Brothers, even if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, each of you looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. ~ Galatians 6:1
This, and many other scriptures, remind us of the wisdom and necessity of humility, when it comes to living in a healthy and God-pleasing way. Solomon once wrote "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (stumbling)." ~ Proverbs 16:18. It's too easy to judge ourselves as the high water mark for all those we deem less spiritual than ourselves. But, even Humpty Dumpty had a great fall -- and I don't think they were talking about autumn!
Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, while laboring to continue in that rest we have only in Him (Hebrews 3,4, & 12), and thereby avoid so many of the pit-falls Satan sets to try to snare and ruin us and our relationsships.
But actually, I'm also wrting just to reconnect here, and to say I hope you are enjoying your fall--autumn, that is. Wisconsin puts on a pretty great seasonal show of color...or, I should say, the Lord displays some of His marvelous handiwork here in autumn -- just for His pleasure, and for our enjoyment, drawing our thoughts away from the fog and shadows, and into His marvellous light.
Happy fall, y'all,
Brian
